The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce of Washington D.C. (SACC-DC) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the development of business relations between the United States and Sweden. Since 1989 SACC-DC has offered opportunities to explore and develop mutually beneficial U.S. – Swedish professional opportunities through business and social events. SACC-DC is one of 20 local chambers across the United States, cooperating under the umbrella organization SACC-USA. SACC-USA serves more than 2,300 members in Sweden and the U.S., making it the second largest European Chamber of Commerce in the United States. Together, the chambers form a nationwide Swedish-American business network, which has served as a forum for Swedish and American business people ever since.

Mission

Our mission is to facilitate and support trade, investment and commerce between the U.S. and Sweden by providing a platform for networking opportunities and the exchange of trade information between parties. By using a wide network and contact generating tools and methods, we ensure that products, services, and information are presented to the right people. In order to fulfill our goals, we also regularly organize luncheons, business events, social events, seminars, as well as other activities. These activities are organized for our members, which include businesses, corporations, individuals and young professionals alike. Find out more about our membership options here.

History

Thanks to a long history of trade, Sweden has a large economic impact on the United States. In 1783, Sweden became the first country to enter a trade agreement with the U.S. Today, Swedish exports to the U.S. are valued at $10.2 billion a year, making the U.S. Sweden’s fourth largest exporting partner. Swedish foreign direct investment (FDI) in the U.S. amounts to more than $50 billion, making Sweden the 11th largest investor in the U.S. More than 300,000 American jobs are supported by Swedish-American economic relations. Sweden is also a member of the European Union (EU), which is the U.S.’s largest economic partner.
