Robert “Bob” Thomas is Elekta’s Senior Vice President of Health Policy and Government Affairs. In this role, Bob creates, builds and leads a formal Public Policy function and team inWashington, D.C. In addition, he is responsible for developing and implementing Elekta’s North American government affairs and public policy strategies, as well as representing Elekta’s interests on important healthcare policy issues concerning the treatment of cancer. Bob also serves on the Elekta North American corporate senior leadership team. Prior to joining Elekta, Bob held positions of increasing responsibility at IBM, MEDRAD, and Bayer Healthcare. His roles included sales, sales management, national sales management, talent acquisition and retention, and public policy. His areas of expertise include legislative affairs, business development, customer satisfaction, coalition management, building strategic alliances, and creating a positive corporate culture. Bob has also served in multiple corporate leadership roles in the areas of diversity outreach, CRM, college recruiting, and major event planning.
Bob currently serves on the nonprofit boards for the Rise Foundation and the Paul Rabil Foundation.
Additionally, Bob serves as a Board Member for the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce. Bob is
also active with the Brendon Looney Foundation with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Additionally, he is
an active member of The Washington Economic Club, Kenwood Country Club, and the Capitol Hill Club.
Bob is a lifelong Washingtonian and lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife of Tanya and their three
